GLC RS-250 in Wabash blue/white/grey

In 2019, after almost a decade of negotiations, the Ann Arbor finally purchased controlling interest in the Great Lakes Central Railroad (for a pretty princely sum, thanks to Watco also having an interest in the line) from Federated Capital Holdings.

At the time of purchase, the GLC was an almost completely EMD railroad (one Alco – DL3 #466 – remained on the property in derelict condition), but all of those locomotives were immediately transferred to the BAR & Diesel Locomotive Pool and were replaced by a handful of the Alco Garage Sale’s DL16s and I&M DL30s.

GLC #466 was sent to ILW, where it was remanufactured into a “RS-250”, then put back into service – in Wabash blue, white, & grey – on the GLC & AA.

The Ann Arbor operates the GLC as their northern division and operates through trains down to Toledo as well as west to Chicago on the I&M.
