The GM Oshawa Assembly Plant was traditionally switched by the CPR & CNR, but when it closed in 2019 both of these railways informed GM that they weren’t doing contract switching any more, and suggested a couple of operators who might want to do it instead. One of these operators was the Genesee & Wyoming, the other was the Parsons Vale Trust’s Groupe Ferroviaire Murmuration, and when GM reopened the plant in 2021 they ended up offering the contract to the GFM.
The GFM formed a new subsidiary to handle this contract; the Oshawa Switching & Transfer Company, which started operating when the plant went back into production.
It operates using three RS-38bs (leased from the Joint Locomotive Pool) which are still painted in JLP colours (but lettered for the OS&TC.)
