After the BAR inherited most of the D&H’s old DL17s, some were set aside for conversion into control slugs. After the rebuild they all look pretty much the same, with only slight differences around the electrical cabinet, and are all rated for 2000 HP instead of whatever their donor locomotives were capable of.

10 have been built; three for the Ontario Southwestern and seven for the Diesel Locomotive Pool.
