In 2004, the Parsons Vale bought 10 of CN’s 11 HR-412s from the dead line, had ILW rebuild them with more reliable components, and assigned them to the newly formed Diesel Locomotive Pool as surge units.
All of these units still operate; the first 5 were leased to the D&H immediately after rebuild, and the other 5 were pool power for a dozen years before being leased to the Ann Arbor for operation on the Great Lakes Central.
