In 2004, the Parsons Vale bought 10 of CN’s 11 HR-412s from the dead line, had ILW rebuild them with more reliable components, and assigned them to the newly formed Diesel Locomotive Pool as surge units.

All of these units still exist; They spent 20 years running on the Parsons Vale before going into the DLP’s lease locomotive pool. Five of them are stored until they are rebuilt with QSK50 prime movers, but the other 5 are operating on various shortlines around North America.
