#276 in traction orange

After the Mount Cube incline was abandoned in 1947, Fell #276 was assigned as power to the remaining segment of the Southern Vermont Traction Company after being shopped to remove the now-unneeded Fell traction wheels and rewind the bipolar motors in the end trucks for a top speed higher than 25mph. For maintenance records this required it be changed to a different class, so, being a one-off, it was assigned to a class of itself.

It spent the next 60 years hauling freight between Pownal and Arlington (then Bennington after the line was cut back in 1955) before being restored (as a Fell motor, but still in SVT colours) & put on display in Pownal in 2007.
