In 1929, the Trois-Riviéres & Shawnigan Street Railway had a carbarn fire that burned through a significant fraction of its passenger equipment. There was still a significant amount of passenger traffic on the line, so to replace those lost cars 8 steel combination cars were ordered from the Ottawa Car Company.
Most of these cars survived to the bitter end of passenger traffic on the TRS, and were still around as MOW cars when TRS parent the LT&L did their 3-way merger with the TdM & PV&T. And when the LT&L electrified their north shore line between Ottawa & Ville de Québec they grabbed these cars to use as line cars on the new electrification.
6 cars survive; 5 in MOW service on the Parsons Vale’s 3000VDC Canadian lines, and one (TRS #61) which has been restored as a museum piece and is now operating in excursion service on the ORRC’s system.
