There is an altitude difference of 800 meters (2,400 feet) along the 11 km length funicular system, that is, an average 8% steep gradient. As the figure shows, the funicular system has 5 steps between the Piaçaguera/Raiz da Serra and the Alto da Serra/Paranapiacaba stations.
