This photo shows the visit of a RENFE technical mission to the English Electric works, in England, where they saw the Pimentinha electric locomotive, originally designed for use at the E.F. Santos a Jundiaí. Afterwards this mission decided to order 75 units of this same kind of locomotive for the section Léon-Gijón of RENFE, which had many curves and steep gradients, like E.F. Santos a Jundiaí. They had a very successful history in Spain. Now they are retired from commercial service, but many units are being preserved all over that country.
