Estrada de Ferro Carajás
This railroad, located in the Pará state, north of Brazil, was originally
built to serve the iron and bauxite mines of the Companhia Vale do Rio
Doce, at Carajás. Together with the
Estrada de Ferro Vitória-Minas, also controlled by same company, they are
the busiest railroads in Brazil. Well, after all, they have the same
mission: massive iron ore transportation. They are rare examples of
efficiency in the Brazilian railroad transportation system.
