CV eco-414 #827 in CV colo(u)rs

When the New England Central was merged into the system (then renamed back to Central Vermont), the railroad sold all of its EMD power and replaced them with a basket of Alco+MLW rebuilds (class DL25) and new switchers from ILW.

The new switchers were the first production run of ILW’s ECO locomotive family, so they are powered with Caterpillar 3512s for Tier-0 conformance. The class leader was built on the frame of a wrecked EMD MP15DC, but looks a lot like a larger version of the class DL10 T-6s that were purchased 34 years previously (but, obviously, don’t sound like them!).

LT&L eco-414 #835 in yet another safety paint scheme

Along with the purchase of these switchers for the CV, the PV&T also ordered another 6 to replace the LT&L’s remaining class DL2 and DL4 engines (those engines were in operating order, but really old for a diesel, so the head offices decided to pass them on to shortlines & railroad museums)
