The Central Vermont merger came with a small handful of ex-PC SD40s, which remained on the CV’s roster long enough to get painted in CV colo(u)rs before they were replaced (with rebuilt MLW M-420s) and transferred to the BAR, where they operated until being retired in 2024.
However, not more than two years after that the United Railway Trust merger happened, and the LT&L brought a large handful of remanufactured SD40s onto the roster to provide additional power for their newly-transferred CPR lines east of Toronto.
These units operate on almost exclusively within Ontario (and into Montréal) on the LT&L and Ottawa Central systems.
